Digital Illustrator / NC, US / they/them
I grew up a carpenter’s daughter in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I received a degree in Plant Biology and Entomology from NCSU in 2023 while staying active in digital art communities and taking fine art courses in school. There is an occassional intersection between these passions in my work for the North Carolina Entomological Society.
I have a penchant for composition and color harmony in my digital work, and enjoy mixed media art using natural materials. My personal work explores themes about family, LGBT identity, and nature.
About
Outside of Art
Art is just as important to me as taking care of the little guys!
I am a career plant biologist and entomologist, with a heavy focus on insects. In the past I have worked as a laboratory associate on integrated pest management, parasitoid research, and plant genetics. I have dissected more insects than people I have met in my life!
For the NCDA & Consumer Services, I worked in pest detection and biocontrol reserach. I was responsible for rearing and sexing Ganaspis brasiliensis as a method for spotted wing drosophila (Drosophila suzukii) biocontrol. I assisted in Poblicia fuliginosa field collection in preparation for choice testing of spotted lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula). I have received an outstanding accomplishment award for my work on the Spotted Lanternfly Response team and I have received 2 awards for my work with the North Carolina Entomological Society.
I currently work as an operations specialist and sample coordinator at a discovery research company in RTP. We have five different research teams and a controlled environment greenhouse with 24 compartments.
